Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-18 (interim, private beta)
Effective date: 18 October 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and Pennora Limited ("Pennora", "we", "us" or "our") about your use of the Pennora website and personal-finance application (the "Service"). Please read them before creating an account or using the Service.
Pennora Limited is registered in Scotland under company number SC902541, with its registered office at 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, Scotland, EH2 4AN.
1. Who may use Pennora
You must be at least 18, be able to enter into this agreement and use Pennora only where it is lawful for you to do so. If you use Pennora for another person or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind them and to provide any information you submit.
The Service may be offered as private testing, a beta or a preview. During those stages, features may be incomplete, unavailable or changed more frequently.
2. What Pennora provides
Pennora provides tools to record, organise and understand personal-finance information. Features may include budgets, income and expense tracking, savings, investments, debts, document reading, bank-data connections and the Nora AI assistant.
Pennora is not a bank and does not hold or move your money. Unless we expressly tell you otherwise in an approved, feature-specific notice, Pennora is not providing regulated payment initiation, lending, investment management, financial advice, debt advice, tax advice or legal advice.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate information and keep it current. You are responsible for protecting your sign-in credentials and for activity performed through your account, except where the law places responsibility elsewhere.
Tell us promptly at support@getpennora.com if you believe your account or information has been compromised. We may require reasonable identity checks before changing account details or responding to sensitive requests.
4. Your financial information and decisions
Pennora's figures depend on the information you provide or connect. You are responsible for checking imported, extracted, categorised and calculated information before relying on it.
Content in the Service is general information and may be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Nothing in Pennora is a recommendation to buy, sell, borrow, invest or take any other financial action. Consider obtaining advice from a suitably authorised professional for decisions that matter to you.
You remain responsible for your financial decisions, tax reporting, regulatory obligations and dealings with financial institutions.
5. Nora and other AI features
Nora uses artificial intelligence. AI output can sound confident while being incorrect, outdated or incomplete. You must check important information independently and must not treat Nora as professional advice.
Nora is designed to explain and help you navigate information. It cannot access your bank credentials, move money or alter your financial records. Do not submit passwords, PINs, full card details, government identifiers or unnecessary sensitive information in a prompt.
We may restrict, review or disable an AI feature where needed for safety, reliability, legal compliance or maintenance. See the Nora AI Assistant Disclosure and Privacy Notice.
6. Bank connections
Pennora's current bank integration is for sandbox or approved private testing only and must not be treated as a live production Open Banking service.
Before offering live bank connections, Pennora will identify the regulated provider, explain the parties' roles and provide any additional terms and consent journey required for that service. Pennora does not claim in these Terms to be an authorised Account Information Service Provider, a registered agent of one or a technical service provider under an approved production arrangement.
If live bank connections are introduced, you may be redirected to your bank or a provider to authenticate and give explicit consent. Never give Pennora your online-banking password or PIN. You can disconnect a supported connection through the product, subject to any additional provider process disclosed at the time.
7. Files and content you provide
You keep ownership of information, files and other content you provide. You give Pennora a limited permission to host, copy, process and display that content only as needed to provide, secure and improve the Service in accordance with the Privacy Notice.
You confirm that you have the right to provide the content and that doing so will not violate another person's rights or the law. You should remove information that is not needed before uploading a document.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the Service unlawfully, fraudulently or to harm another person;
- attempt to access another user's account or data;
- probe, bypass or interfere with security or access controls;
- introduce malware, automate abusive requests or overload the Service;
- reverse engineer the Service except where the law expressly allows it;
- use output to impersonate a professional or misrepresent financial advice; or
- submit content you do not have the right to use.
We may investigate suspected misuse and take proportionate action, including limiting or suspending access.
9. Third-party services
Pennora relies on third parties for functions such as authentication, hosting, email, AI processing and, in testing, bank connectivity. Their services may have separate terms and privacy notices. Pennora is not responsible for a third party's independent service, but this does not limit responsibility that the law places on us for providers acting on our behalf.
Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience and do not mean we endorse everything on those sites.
10. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Pennora available and reliable, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may maintain, change, add, withdraw or suspend features. Where practical, we will give reasonable notice of a material change that adversely affects an active paid service.
Beta and preview features may change or end without notice and should not be used as the sole record of important financial information. Keep any copies you need.
11. Plans, payment and cancellation
Plans
Pennora has three plans. Basic is free. Plus and Premium are paid subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly. What each plan includes and its current price are shown on our pricing page and again before you pay. UK prices are in pounds and include any VAT.
Where a paid plan says "unlimited", it is subject to fair use, so that one account can't place an unreasonable load on the Service. The fair-use limits are 1,000 Nora questions and 500 scans a month. Ordinary personal use won't reach them.
Free trial
Every new account gets Premium free for 30 days, with no card needed. When the trial ends, your account moves to Basic automatically. We will never charge you unless you choose a paid plan.
Payment and renewal
Payments are processed by Stripe. Pennora does not see or store your full card details. When you subscribe, you authorise us to charge you at the start of each billing period. Your subscription renews automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. You will receive a receipt for each payment.
If a payment fails, we will ask you to update your payment method. If it still can't be collected, your account moves to Basic.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from Account → Plan & billing → Manage billing. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, then your account moves to Basic. We don't refund part-used periods, except as below.
14-day cancellation right. If you are a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of first subscribing to a paid plan and we will refund that first payment in full. Contact support@getpennora.com or cancel from Manage billing and tell us you want a refund.
Price changes
We will tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your subscription. If you don't want to continue at the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.
Moving to a lower plan
Nothing is deleted when you move to a lower plan or to Basic. You keep all your records and Money Profiles. The lower plan's limits apply to new items: for example, you can't create more Money Profiles than the plan allows, and bank connections beyond the allowance pause until you upgrade or remove some.
Nigeria
Naira billing for people in Nigeria will be provided by Pennora's Nigerian company when it becomes available. We will show you its terms before you subscribe.
Nothing in these Terms removes consumer cancellation or refund rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Intellectual property
Pennora and its licensors own the Service, including its software, design, branding and documentation, except for content owned by users or third parties. We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
If you give us feedback, you permit us to use it without payment or obligation to you, but we will not treat that permission as ownership of your personal information.
13. Closing or suspending an account
You may close your account using the available account-deletion feature or by contacting support. Deleting your account cancels any paid subscription straight away, without a refund for the rest of the period unless you are within the 14-day cancellation right. Account deletion is intended to remove associated application records and files and revoke bank connections, subject to the retention exceptions explained in the Privacy Notice.
We may limit, suspend or close an account where reasonably necessary to address misuse, security risk, legal requirements, non-payment or a material breach of these Terms. Where appropriate and lawful, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to resolve the issue.
Sections that by their nature should continue after closure will survive, including ownership, accrued payment obligations, lawful retention and limitations of liability.
14. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.
Subject to the paragraph above, Pennora is not responsible for losses caused by information you entered incorrectly; decisions made without independently checking information; unauthorised use resulting from your failure to protect credentials; or circumstances outside our reasonable control, except to the extent the law makes us responsible.
Subject to the first paragraph of this section, our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
15. Complaints and disputes
Contact support@getpennora.com if you have a complaint. Privacy complaints are handled as described in the Privacy Notice. A regulated provider may operate a separate complaints process for a future Open Banking service; we will identify it before that service is offered.
We will try to resolve complaints directly with you. We do not currently use an alternative dispute resolution scheme.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of Scotland. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you keep the mandatory protections of the law where you live and may bring proceedings in the courts of Scotland or of the part of the UK where you live.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the Service, law, security or business. We will show the updated effective date and give reasonable advance notice of material changes where required. If a change needs your agreement, we will ask for it.
